10 GTA RP Server Rules Every Newcomer Should Know

My RoleplayJune 30, 20262 min read

Every GTA RP server has its own detailed rulebook, but almost all of them share a common core. If you're new, learning these first will save you from an early ban and a bad first impression.

  • No random death match (RDM) — you need in-character justification before engaging in violence.
  • No fail RP — actions must make sense for your character and the situation.
  • No metagaming — don't use out-of-character information (Discord, streams) in-character.
  • No powergaming — don't force actions on other players they can't reasonably escape or refuse.
  • Combat logging is bannable — don't disconnect to avoid an in-progress scene.
  • Vehicle deathmatch (VDM) is treated the same as RDM on most servers.
  • New Life Rule — your character generally forgets the events leading to their death.
  • Stay in character in IC voice/text channels — OOC chatter belongs in designated channels.
  • Advertise fairly — LifeInvader ads should reflect real in-game listings, not scams.
  • Read your specific server's full rules — this list is the common baseline, not a replacement.

Once you're comfortable with the basics, the LifeInvader Ads Studio on this site helps you post correctly formatted car, house, business, clothing, and item ads without having to memorize every convention by hand.
